Title: Nude Study
I painted this during class long time age at The Art League School in Torpedo. When my kids were little older I had energy to go back to class.
Old Town Alexandria is cozy town. I love the stone roads, brick walls, busy street with all kinds of people. And the man who plays music out of wine glasses was still there when I visited a few days ago.
The King Street is filled with lives, delicious smell of food, lots of stores, and I always liked the smell of class room. I love the feeling when I walk up the narrow stairs, see all the wooden smelly easels. It reminds of the studio I learn drawings and painting in Korea when I was young.
It’s always delicate to watch professional nude model show up with rope, and he takes off the rope and stand naked. He doesn’t seem care at all and all students feels very natural.
The instructor pauses, thinks, and decides the pose. He moves model’s arm this way, that way. He directs the head position, then he marks the feet with masking tape.
At this point all the students try to get situated and stare at the naked model with deep thoughts. I was at the end of the round row. I usually don’t talk while I am painting. I used to get amaze watching some other artist laughing and painting at the same time. I quickly determine the angle and relationship of lines and shadow.
The class was not very long so this painting was done rather quickly.
At the end I remember everyone gathered around me and made comments on this painting.
This is one of my favorite paintings.

Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colours flowers, so does art colour life. ― John Lubbock CONGRATULATIONS ON SALE!
